Squash&Go

Ever thought playing squash is too expensive? Ever faced a “Not possible: fully booked for the next three days!” when trying to make a reservation for a squash court? Ever wondered where the closest squash club was from your house? Can we imagine a concept that would allow students and young professionals to practise squash for a low price, that would make squash courts more accessible than ever? Our answer is yes.

The concept is clear-cut: we install box-shaped buildings throughout the city. This type of construction allows us to get as close as possible to the customers. Local authorities have already shown strong interest and support for our business model. The boxes each contain a single squash court available to play. In a nutshell, Squash&Go’s unique selling proposition is based on low cost and accessibility. Low cost because the price we will charge will be around 40 % below the market’s average price. We can afford to propose this low price due to the fact that our IT system for the booking and access to the box replace the need for personnel. We are accessible in three ways: we are close to the customer, we offer easy and fast online availability check, reservation, payment and flexible opening hours. In the squash box, the customers have also the opportunity to rent a racket, buy drinks or squash balls.

Based on societal trends and our market research, we identified the need of local customers for low cost and accessible squash facilities. This finding conducted us to identify students and young professionals as a target group. Even more, both these types of customers are highly likely to value the modern interface between the company and them.

Ghent will be the starting location to first launch five boxes. In the future, we plan to further expand in Ghent. This acquired expertise will support our future expansion in other Belgian and European cities.

In order to finance our business, we request a loan of 400,000 €. This loan will be reimbursed within ten years through annual annuities. Squash&Go will be profitable within 2 years, and, thanks to its limited working capital requirements, will not encounter cash flow difficulties. The sensitivity analysis provides positive answers to the possible risks Squash&Go might face related to its business.
